This factory service and repair manual for the 1989 Chevrolet P30 documents a working chassis rather than a passenger vehicle, and its content reflects that: four engines, two bodies and two trims, all of them put to hard duty. The gasoline side runs from the 4.8L inline-six to the 5.7L and 7.4L V8s, with the 6.2L diesel V8 alongside. Specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics cover the two-door van and the bare Base Stripped chassis equally.

Known issues on the 1989 P30. Three recalls appear on the federal record for this year. Replacement fuel filters that do not seal at their connection can leak fuel, and near a source of ignition that becomes a fire. Replacement oil filters carry a similar sealing failure, but what escapes is engine oil. The third recall covers seat pedestals slotted too wide in the center channel to meet their loading requirement. One owner complaint, on engine cooling, is recorded. Fuel delivery, lubrication and seat mounting are all specified here with torque values and test procedures.
