1997 Chevrolet K1500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1997 Chevrolet K1500 is a single reference for four powertrains with little in common beyond the truck around them. A 4.3L overhead-valve V6 and 5.0L and 5.7L gasoline V8s sit on one side; a turbocharged 6.5L diesel V8 sits on the other, with its own fuel and service data. Bodies run to two-door standard, two-door extended and three-door extended cabs, and the trims are Base, Cheyenne, Silverado and WT.

Known issues on the 1997 K1500. No recall touches the 1997 K1500 on the federal record, and no owner has entered a complaint against it. In place of a fault history the manual gives method: procedures and specifications for each of the four engines, torque values for the fasteners that hold them together, wiring diagrams drawn per cab structure, and diagnostic charts for the chassis systems. Brakes, steering, suspension and driveline are documented in the same detail as the engine bays, which is what keeps a truck of this age serviceable.
