Known issues on the 1996 Savana 2500. Three recalls sit on the federal record for this model year. One covers aftermarket corner and bumper lamp assemblies built without the required amber side reflectors, which reduces how well the van is seen from the side. Another concerns passenger vans that give off fuel odors or leak fuel outright, a fire risk near any ignition source. The third involves a rear axle U-bolt that can break and let the leaf spring lift away from the axle under braking or cornering. Owners have logged 37 complaints, clustering on the fuel system, service brakes and visibility.
