This factory service and repair manual for the 1994 GMC Yukon has two very different engines to account for. Alongside the 5.7L overhead-valve gasoline V8 of 350 cubic inches sits a turbocharged 6.5L diesel V8 of 395 cubic inches, and the two share little beyond the two-door sport utility body and the Base, SLE and Sport trim structure wrapped around them. Coverage therefore runs in parallel: procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics for each engine and for the systems built around it.

Engines covered

  • 6.5L V8 (395 cu in) — OHV, turbocharged, diesel
  • 5.7L V8 (350 cu in) — OHV, naturally aspirated, gasoline

Body styles covered

  • 2-door sport utility

Trims covered

  • Base
  • SLE
  • Sport

Known issues on the 1994 Yukon. Four recalls are on the federal record. Two concern the windshield wipers, where cracked solder joints, on the controller circuit board in one case and near the harness connector in the other, leave the blades working intermittently or not at all. A third covers a replacement gasoline filter that can seal poorly and leak. The fourth is a driveability campaign on the fuel-injected 6.5L diesel, addressing poor throttle response, stalling, misfire and long cranking when hot. Of 60 owner complaints, 21 name the service brakes and 19 visibility, both well documented here.
