1993 Ford Escort Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1993 Ford Escort documents six trims, Base, GT, LX, LX Sport, LX-E and Sport, in four bodies running from the two-door hatchback through the sedan, the four-door hatchback and the wagon. Under the hood are two naturally aspirated gasoline fours: the 1.8-liter DOHC engine and the 1.9-liter SOHC engine. The manual keeps their timing, valvetrain and fuel specifications apart, then lays out procedures, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics for the driveline, brakes, suspension and body they share.

Known issues on the 1993 Escort. Three recalls touch this model year. One concerns aftermarket replacement corner lamps, turn signals and headlights sold without the amber side reflectors the standard requires. Another covers the front suspension offset toe adjusting pin, which can fracture and cost the driver steering control. The third covers driver-side inboard seat track adjusters whose lock plates would not fully engage near the middle of their travel. Owners have filed 442 complaints with NHTSA, led by seat belts, then vehicle speed control and the fuel system. Throttle linkage, restraint hardware and fuel delivery all have procedures here.
