1992 GMC C1500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1992 GMC C1500 covers the standard cab and extended cab pickups in Sierra, Sierra SLE and Sierra SLX trim. Four engines were offered and all four are documented: the 4.3L V6 at 262 cubic inches, the 5.0L V8 at 305, the 5.7L V8 at 350 and the 6.2L diesel V8 at 379, each of them overhead-valve and naturally aspirated. The book keeps the diesel's injection, glow plug and fuel supply work clear of the gasoline engines' ignition and fuel delivery sections.

Known issues on the 1992 C1500. One recall covers this model year: transmission fluid pushed out of the vent tube by heat the design did not anticipate, which can catch fire near a source of ignition. Owner complaints are more numerous at eighteen, clustering on visibility and the service brakes with four each and on the seats with two. That mix pushes attention toward the brake hydraulic sections, the wiper, washer and glass procedures and the seat and body hardware, all of which carry their own specifications, torque values and diagnostic steps here.
UNANTICIPATED HEAT IN THE TRANSMISSION CAN FORCE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID OUT OF THE VENT TUBE.
THE VENTED TRANSMISSION FLUID CAN CATCH FIRE IF EXPOSEDTO A SOURCE OF IGNITION.
