Known issues on the 1987 LeBaron. NHTSA has opened two recall campaigns against the 1987 LeBaron. On 4,400 of certain 1987 LeBaron vehicles, the driver floor mat could shift into the accelerator pedal and stop it from returning fully, and a redesigned mat was supplied. Certain 1987 LeBaron vehicles with a particular engine fitment could also develop cold-weather fuel leaks where the underhood supply hose meets the regulator and rail, a fire hazard. Owners filed 42 complaints, led by engine and engine cooling (12), the fuel system (9) and seat belts (8); 7 reported a fire, 5 a crash and 3 an injury.
