This factory service and repair manual for the 1987 Chevrolet Corvette covers a single trim sold in two forms. The Base car came as a two-door convertible or a two-door hatchback, both carrying the naturally aspirated 5.7-liter overhead-valve V8 of 350 cubic inches. Because equipment does not fork by trim level, the wiring diagrams describe one harness rather than several, and the mechanical sections — engine, transmission, axle, brakes, steering and suspension — carry one set of specifications and torque values that applies to every car built that year.

Known issues on the 1987 Corvette. Three recalls appear on the federal record for this year, and none of them touches the engine's own hardware. Two involve service parts: replacement fuel filters that can seal poorly and drip gasoline where hot components could ignite it, and replacement oil filters that can seal badly enough to lose the engine's oil. The third is a restraint fault, safety belts that lock in the retractor and cannot be drawn out when needed. Of twenty-one complaints, twelve name seat belts, with the electrical system and suspension trailing well behind.
