Known issues on the 2020 LEAF. Six recalls are on federal record for this model year. Two involve the rear-facing camera: on the first, the back-up camera image can disappear while the car is in reverse, and the missing image increases the risk of a crash; on the second, damage to the camera harness can distort or eliminate the rearview display image, reducing the driver's rear view. A third covers the rear window glass, which may not remain properly secured and can separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. A fourth concerns the traction battery on cars with a Level 3 quick charging port, where the lithium-ion battery may overheat during Level 3 charging and raise the risk of a fire. A fifth covers vehicle speed control: the car may accelerate unintentionally if the driving mode is changed to B, e-Pedal on, or ECO after the cruise control is disengaged. The sixth is a documentation recall, incorrect Owner's Manual defroster instructions that can lead to reduced defroster performance and limited visibility through the windshield. Owners have filed 163 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are on federal record.
Whether you are tracing a rearview camera harness, checking quick-charge behavior at the battery, or diagnosing unintended acceleration after the cruise control drops out, it holds you to Nissan's own procedure and figures for this 2020 LEAF.
