Known issues on the 2018 LEAF. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. Two of them concern the rear view camera: in the first, the back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted so that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system retains that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse, and the lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash; in the second, damage to the camera harness can cause distortion or loss of the rearview camera display image, reducing the driver's rear view. A third covers vehicle speed control: the vehicle may accelerate unintentionally if the driving mode is changed ("D" to "B", e-Pedal "On", or "ECO" mode) after the cruise control is disengaged, and unintentional acceleration can increase the risk of a crash. The fourth covers incorrect Owner's Manual instructions for defroster operation, which can leave defroster performance reduced and limit visibility out of the windshield.
