Known issues on the 2017 Versa. Three recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the mechanical key ignition switch, which can shift out of the run position from key-ring weight or jarring road conditions and shut off the engine, raising the risk of a crash. The second covers the side curtain air bags, where a seam in the fabric section may tear during deployment and compromise air bag performance in a crash. The third covers the passenger frontal air bag, whose ring plate can fail and cause the air bag to deploy improperly, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. In the event of a crash necessitating side curtain air bag deployment, if the side curtain air bags do not deploy as intended there would be an increased risk of injury.
