Known issues on the 2010 Versa. Eight recalls are on federal record for this model year, and most center on the front air bag inflators. Several separate campaigns cover the passenger frontal air bag inflator, which can explode under long-term propellant degradation and send sharp metal fragments into the driver or other occupants; one further campaign covers the driver-side frontal inflator rupturing the same way, and a later campaign extends the same fault to driver and passenger inflators supplied as replacement service parts. Outside the air bag system, front coil springs can corrode from road salt exposure and fracture, with a fractured spring able to contact and puncture the tire, and vehicles fitted with a Garmin nuvi 750 navigation unit can see its battery overheat and start a fire.
