Known issues on the 2009 Versa. Eight recalls are on federal record for this model year. Several concern Takata frontal airbag inflators, driver and passenger side, where propellant degradation after long-term exposure to heat and humidity can cause the inflator to rupture or explode and send metal fragments into the cabin. A separate recall covers front coil springs that can corrode from road salt and fracture, with the broken spring able to contact and puncture the tire. Another covers a Garmin nuvi 750 navigation unit whose battery could overheat and start a fire. Owners have filed 503 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged.
