Known issues on the 2014 Versa. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the center console trim panel, which can catch the driver's shoe and delay the transition from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal, lengthening stopping distance and increasing the risk of a crash. The second covers the engine start/stop button, which can stick inside its housing in hot temperatures; road vibration can then shut the engine off unexpectedly while driving. A delay in the application of the brake pedal would lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will modify the console trim panel, free of charge. The recall began on September 14, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
