Known issues on the 2013 Golf. NHTSA shows 5 recalls for the 2013 Golf, and most of them concern the driver's air bag. The clock spring on certain 2013 Golf vehicles could be contaminated by debris that could tear its ribbon cable, leaving the driver's frontal air bag without power in a crash. On certain 2013 Golf vehicles the driver's inflator could build excess pressure and explode as the bag deployed. Owners made 43 complaints: engine 14, fuel/propulsion 11, air bags 9, electrical system 7, service brakes 5. Two of them described a crash, while a fire and an injury each came up once.
