Known issues on the 1995 Golf. NHTSA shows 4 recalls for the 1995 Golf. On certain 1995 Golf vehicles equipped with the VR6 engine, the radiator fan motor shaft was made from unsuitable material and could wear, grow noisy and finally seize, leaving the engine to overheat and stall; dealers replaced the fan assembly. On certain 1995 Golf vehicles, the hood latch bolts could also loosen and let the hood open while driving. Complaints total 43, concentrated on the electrical system (12), equipment (10), latches, locks and linkages (8) and air bags (6); 4 complaints reported a crash and 2 an injury.
