Known issues on the 2013 CX-9. Federal records list 4 recalls for the 2013 CX-9. The front passenger air bag inflator of certain 2013 CX-9 vehicles sold or registered in certain states figures in some of them, because its propellant could degrade in humid, heat-cycled conditions until the inflator might explode and throw fragments; owners were told not to drive until it was replaced. Certain 2013 CX-9 vehicles from a defined production period were recalled because the lower nuts and bolts holding the front strut to the steering knuckle could work loose and let the knuckle separate; dealers inspected them and replaced and retightened any loose ones.
