Known issues on the 2013 Avenger. NHTSA records 5 recalls for this year. In a campaign covering 521 vehicles, certain 2013 Avenger vehicles with the 2.4L engine were found to have abrasive debris in the balance shaft bearings that could cause a loss of oil pressure and an engine stall or failure; dealers replaced the balance shaft module. Certain 2013 Avenger vehicles were also recalled because the occupant restraint controller could fail and stop the active headrests from deploying in a rear-end crash. In another campaign on certain 2013 Avenger vehicles, the restraint module could short and disable the frontal and side air bags.
