Known issues on the 2012 Avenger. There are 3 recalls on the federal record for the 2012 Avenger, and they center on the occupant restraint controller. On certain 2012 Avenger vehicles, a part inside that controller could fail and keep the active headrests from deploying in a rear-end crash; dealers replaced the controller where needed. Certain 2012 Avenger vehicles were separately recalled because the restraint module could short and disable the frontal and side air bags and seat belt pretensioners. Complaints reach 553, led by air bags (109), the electrical system (108) and visibility and wiper (95); 34 complaints reported a crash, 7 a fire and 30 an injury.
