Known issues on the 2012 Sprinter 2500. NHTSA lists two recalls for the 2012 Sprinter 2500, and both involve frontal air bag inflators. On certain vans, the passenger-side inflator's propellant could degrade over long exposure to humidity and temperature swings until it ruptured on deployment. The driver-side inflator on certain vans produced from July 2010 to July 2014 could burst from too much pressure inside it. In either case dealers replaced the parts. The four owner complaints include one each for exterior lighting, visibility and wipers, and air bags.
