Known issues on the 2010 Matrix. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. One covers the accelerator pedal, which can get stuck in the wide open position; a stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make the vehicle difficult to stop. A second covers the passenger-side frontal air bag inflator module, where an inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants. The other two are labeling non-compliances with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110 on tire selection and rims: one from Southeast Toyota, where a driver may overload a vehicle and increase the risk of a crash, and one from Gulf States Toyota, whose label does not meet the standard requirements. NHTSA has 55 owner complaints on record for the year, and Toyota has issued 98 technical service bulletins.
