Known issues on the 2004 Matrix. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year, and both are exterior lighting recalls on lamps sold for the car as replacement or aftermarket equipment. The first is an exterior lighting recall on headlights: it covers certain ANZO combination headlamp assemblies sold as replacement lamps for use on certain passenger vehicles, some of which are not equipped with amber side reflectors, and without the amber reflectors the vehicle will be poorly illuminated. The second is an exterior lighting recall covering 16,270 SaberSport combination corner and bumper lamp assemblies of various part numbers sold for use as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles, where decreased lighting visibility may result in a vehicle crash. Owners have filed 175 complaints for the year, and Toyota has issued 77 technical service bulletins.
