Certain 2010 Mazda 6 sedans had their passenger frontal inflators replaced under an earlier recall with units of the same design, and those could explode as the propellant degraded; owners were told not to drive until an alternate inflator was fitted. On certain sedans from a specific build window, a protective coating on the air bag control unit may not have been applied properly, letting moisture damage it and keep the air bags from deploying. Owners logged 225 complaints, chiefly structure (60), air bags (54) and suspension (43); 5 reported a crash, 2 a fire and 2 an injury.
