Known issues on the 2009 Mazda 6. Nine recalls are on the federal record. On certain 2009 Mazda 6 sedans with particular passenger frontal inflators, degrading propellant could make the inflator rupture and spray metal fragments; owners were told not to drive until an alternate inflator was installed. Another recall reaches certain 2009 sedans sold or registered in listed states, where road salt could corrode the front cross member and weaken the passenger-side lower control arm mount, shifting steering alignment. Owners lodged 386 complaints, led by structure at 123, suspension at 76 and air bags at 75; 8 reported a crash, 3 a fire and 4 an injury.
