Known issues on the 2006 Mazda 6. The recalls on the 2006 Mazda 6 number 3, and they target frontal air bag inflators on certain 2006 Mazda 6 vehicles; owners were told not to drive until it was fixed. On the driver's side, a dual-stage inflator exposed to moisture, along with manufacturing variability, could rupture over time. On the passenger side, propellant that degrades after years of humid conditions and temperature swings could make the inflator explode, a risk that extends to certain cars given a same-design passenger inflator by an earlier recall.
