Known issues on the 2008 Mazda 6. NHTSA holds 4 recalls and 111 owner complaints for the 2008 Mazda 6, 77 of them about the air bags. Owners of certain 2008 Mazda 6 vehicles covered by the three air bag recalls were told not to drive until repaired. One targets the driver's dual-stage frontal inflator, which moisture and manufacturing variation could leave prone to rupture; another the passenger frontal inflator, whose propellant could break down after long-term humidity and temperature cycling and explode; and a third certain cars already fitted with a same-design passenger inflator under an earlier recall. The remedy in these cases is an alternate inflator. A crash was reported in 15 complaints. Air bag procedures and wiring diagrams are part of the manual.
