Known issues on the 2009 Murano. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the ABS hydraulic control unit: its internal valves can react with certain brake fluid additives and fail to close properly, which can add extra pedal travel needed to stop the vehicle. The second and third involve the air bag system, where incorrect control-unit software or an out-of-spec occupant classification sensor can suppress or disable the passenger air bag, leaving it unable to inflate in a crash. The fourth covers the tire pressure monitoring sensor, whose retaining nut can corrode in road-salt regions and allow the sensor to work loose, leading to a fast air leak and a flat tire. Owners have filed 635 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From tracing an ABS valve fault to servicing the occupant classification sensor or a TPMS sensor swap, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2009 Murano.
Nissan of North America, Inc (Nissan) is recalling certain 2009 Murano vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the v
If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Nissan has notified owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 fluid. The HCU will then be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition. If necessary, the HCU will be replaced,
