Known issues on the 2008 Camry. Six recalls sit on the federal record for this model year. Two of them concern the accelerator pedal: under the first, the pedal may become hard to depress or slow to return to idle; under the second, a pedal stuck in the wide open position may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop. A third covers the power window switch, which can overheat and melt, possibly resulting in a fire. A fourth, from Southeast Toyota, covers the front seat heater, whose copper strand heating element may short circuit if damaged, increasing the risk of a fire. The last two are labeling recalls against Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110 on tire selection and rims: one from Southeast Toyota, where a driver may overload the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash, and one from Gulf States Toyota, whose label does not meet the standard requirements. Owners have filed 1,139 complaints for the year and Toyota has issued 189 technical service bulletins.
