Known issues on the 2004 Camry. Three recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the front seat belt buckle assembly and applies to cars with a front passenger power seat when certain rear-facing infant child seat bases are installed onto the seat with an excessively high seatbelt tension; if the switch becomes unseated, the front passenger occupant classification system may make a mistake. The second covers the side and window curtain shield air bags, one or both of which may be twisted near the inflator through improper assembly; if that happens, the curtain air bag may not deploy rapidly enough when activated in a side impact collision. The third is filed under engine and engine cooling and covers the power steering pump belt, which in some cases may become detached from the pulley. Owners have filed 798 complaints for the year and Toyota has issued 111 technical service bulletins.
