The 2005 Camry left the factory with one of three engines, and the code cast into yours decides which specifications apply: the 2.4L four-cylinder (2AZ-FE), the 3.0L V6 (1MZ-FE) or the 3.3L V6 (3MZ-FE). Two 2005 Camrys parked side by side can take different parts, fluids and torque figures depending on which of the three is under the hood and which trim the car was built as.

Known issues on the 2005 Camry. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the front seat belt buckle assembly. It applies to cars with a front passenger power seat, where certain rear-facing infant child seat bases are installed onto the seat with an excessively high seat belt tension; the federal consequence text ties the fault to the front passenger occupant classification system if the switch becomes unseated, but the entry is truncated before it says what follows. The second is filed under engine and engine cooling: in some cases the belt for the power steering pump may become detached from the pulley. The third and fourth are labeling recalls from regional distributors, Southeast Toyota and Gulf States Toyota, whose vehicles failed to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, Tire Selection and Rims; on the Southeast Toyota cars a driver may overload a vehicle, which may increase the risk of a crash, and the Gulf States Toyota entry states only that this does not meet the standard requirements. The fifth covers the front seat heater/cooler assembly: if damaged, the copper strand heating element may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire. Owners have filed 905 complaints against the 2005 Camry, and 98 technical service bulletins have been issued for it.
Whether the job is an occupant classification fault, a power steering belt off its pulley or a heated front seat element to inspect, the correct procedure and the correct specification depend on which of the three engines your 2005 Camry left the plant with and which trim it was built as.
