Known issues on the 2007 A4 Quattro. Three recalls are on federal record for this model year, and all three trace back to the passenger frontal air bag inflator module. Volkswagen Group of America issued the recalls in stages by region ("Zone A" and "Zone B" coverage, then the remaining vehicles), but the underlying defect is the same across all three: propellant degradation in the inflator can cause it to rupture or explode during deployment, sending sharp metal fragments into the driver or other occupants and resulting in serious injury or death.
