Known issues on the 2005 9-3. Brake assist and a seat belt retractor are behind the 2 recalls on the 2005 9-3. Certain sport sedan and convertible models received a vacuum check valve for the brake booster that could fail when exposed to heat, removing power assist abruptly; dealers installed a redesigned valve. Certain convertibles built within a defined production period could suffer a broken driver's front seat belt retractor, leaving the belt slack.
