Known issues on the 2001 9-3. Of the 2001 9-3's 4 recalls, one covering 11,886 vehicles concerned certain cars whose fuel pump retaining tabs were damaged during assembly, which could let the fuel lines loosen and leak with a risk of fire; the planned fix is a securing bracket. Certain cars with the four-cylinder engines named in another campaign could see a transistor in the ignition discharge module overheat and stall the engine. Owners filed 83 complaints: 31 cite the electrical system, 19 the gasoline fuel system and 17 engine and engine cooling. Among them, 4 reported an injury, 2 a crash, 1 a fire and 1 a death.
