Known issues on the 2003 9-3. The 2003 9-3 carries 4 recalls. Certain sport sedan and convertible models had a brake booster vacuum check valve that heat could degrade, causing a sudden loss of power assist with little warning; a redesigned valve went in. Another, covering 12,249 vehicles, updated engine management software on certain cars that could stall. Certain sport sedans had seat belt retractors damaged in manufacturing whose tensioning cable could break and stop the belt retracting.
