Known issues on the 2003 Sonoma. One recall applies to this model year, and it is a labeling defect rather than a mechanical one: air bag warning labels carrying incorrect wording, which puts the trucks out of compliance with the federal occupant crash protection standard. Forty owner complaints are logged, spread thinly across structure, the power train and latches and linkages. The body and frame procedures, the transmission and axle diagnostics, and the door and latch service steps in this manual line up with where those reports fall.
CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION."
Consequence
SOME OF THESE VEHICLES INCLUDE INCORRECT STATEMENTS ON ONE OF THE AIR BAG WARNING LABELS.
Remedy
