This factory service and repair manual for the 1994 GMC Sonoma covers two naturally aspirated overhead-valve gasoline engines, a 2.2L inline-four displacing 134 cubic inches and a 4.3L V6 displacing 262. The truck is treated in both of its body forms, the two-door extended cab pickup and the two-door standard cab pickup, and in three trims: SL, SLE and SLS. Engine, driveline, chassis, body and wiring content is arranged by system, with the specifications and torque values for each engine kept separate so they cannot be confused.

Known issues on the 1994 Sonoma. Six recalls are on record, and the brakes account for two of them: an antilock unit that can be told the wrong drive mode, and another whose behavior lengthens stops on mixed surfaces. Three more involve fuel parts sold for service that can leak — a return line, a replacement filter, and a pressure regulator built without its sealing ring. The sixth is safety belt webbing that can separate in a frontal impact. Complaints reach 306, with brakes at 153 and visibility at 57, both covered here.
