Known issues on the 2000 626. A brake fluid reservoir cap is behind the 1 recall on the 2000 Mazda 626. Certain cars were fitted with master cylinder reservoir caps produced on a worn die and lacking ventilation holes. As brake linings wore and the air cooled, pressure inside the reservoir could sink, and in a car parked for a long spell the vacuum could retract the caliper and drum cylinder enough to weaken braking. Caps were inspected and replaced if necessary. The powertrain appears in 160 of the 217 owner complaints and the hydraulic service brakes in 14; 6 complaints reported a crash and 6 an injury.
