Known issues on the 1982 626. Two recalls are recorded for the 1982 Mazda 626. The first applied to certain rear-wheel-drive cars used where roads are heavily salted: salt could break down the idler arm's dust seal and corrode its pin until the pin seized and snapped, which could cost the driver steering control. The fix was a replacement pin with better corrosion resistance. The second concerned certain cars repaired in a way that required loosening or removing the upper torso belt anchorage bolt, which might have gone back in incorrectly and could work loose in normal driving; after inspection, any bolt found improperly installed was removed and reinstalled correctly.
