Known issues on the 1990 626. Certain 1990 Mazda 626 vehicles were recalled over their front door handles, the one recall on record for the year: made of molded resin, a handle could break at its link to the latch rod, and the freed rod, once inside the door, could be pushed down by the descending window far enough to release the latch and let the door swing open. Replacement handle and latch assemblies were the fix. The 44 complaints gather around seat belts (13) and engine and engine cooling (8); 2 complaints reported a crash and 2 a fire.
