1999 Subaru Legacy Service and Repair Manual

Known issues on the 1999 Legacy. There are 3 recalls filed for the 1999 Legacy. One covered certain cars with anti-lock brakes, excluding those with the 2.2L engine, whose brake pedal could travel to the floor in severe cold. Another involved certain vehicles fitted with specific oil filter lots whose cans could fracture, misting oil onto the exhaust with a risk of underhood fire. The third reached certain cars with front coil springs in certain states, where salt-weakened springs could break and puncture a tire.
