Known issues on the 2005 Legacy. Nine recalls cover the 2005 Legacy. Certain cars that received a replacement mechanical-key ignition switch could have a spring inside it break, letting the key slip to accessory and shut the engine off, possibly with the air bags inactive. Certain vehicles built within a stated production window had a passenger air bag that could be open to moisture, which over time could make the inflator rupture on deployment. Others reached certain cars sold or registered in certain states that had already had their passenger inflators swapped for units of the same design, whose propellant could degrade.
