Known issues on the 1999 Caravan. For the 1999 Caravan, NHTSA holds 5 recalls. Certain vans could have trim pieces work loose and drop into a rear outboard seat belt, jamming it so it would not restrain an occupant. On certain others the front seat belt retractor might not have met the federal belt standard and was replaced. Certain vans built only for fleet sales had a headlamp module that did not label the park lamp as a daytime running lamp. Owners have filed 555 complaints, chiefly air bags (119), engine and engine cooling (102) and power train (96); 46 complaints reported a crash, 28 an injury and 14 a fire. Body and electrical procedures, specifications and wiring diagrams apply to these systems.
