This factory service and repair manual for the 1999 Chevrolet Venture describes a van still offered two ways, as a four-door mini passenger van and as a three-door mini passenger van, in Base and LS trim. Power comes from one source, the naturally aspirated 3.4L OHV V6 of 207 cubic inches, so the tune-up figures, timing procedures and cooling specifications need no cross-reference to a second engine. Around that, the manual sets out the transaxle, brake, steering and body wiring work a high-mileage van eventually demands.

Known issues on the 1999 Venture. Seven recalls are on the federal record. In one, a collapsed sleeve in a front cradle insulator lets the joint lose clamp load until the bolt breaks and the joint pulls apart, which can end in the steering shaft separating. Another describes a power sliding door that closes without latching and can swing open on a hill or a turn. A replacement steering knuckle that fractures at the hub is a third. Of 368 complaints, engine and cooling leads with 109, ahead of service brakes at 30 and structure at 29.
