Known issues on the 1997 SL600. The federal record holds one recall for the 1997 SL600 itself. On certain cars driven where humidity stays high, the ignition filament inside the driver's air bag inflator could corrode, and that corrosion could fire the bag with no crash at all; dealers swapped in a new driver's air bag module.
