This factory service and repair manual for the 1996 GMC P3500 lists three body configurations, the chassis, the stripped motorhome chassis and the two-door cab and chassis, in Base and Base Stripped trim. Known issues on the 1996 P3500. The federal record for the 1996 P3500 contains no recalls and no owner complaints. That says nothing about how any individual truck has been maintained, which is where the manual comes in: it documents the four engines named above with step-by-step procedures, gives specifications and torque values for the work, and includes the wiring diagrams and diagnostic charts required to trace a fault through a chassis that may be wearing almost any body.

Consequence
THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE INADEQUATE SEALING AND LOSS OF ENGINE OIL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE.
Remedy
HONEYWELL WILL REPLACE THE AFFECTED OIL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN DURING NOVEMBER 20
