Known issues on the 1989 P3500. Two recalls sit on the federal record for this model year, and both concern replacement filters rather than the truck as built. In the first, certain replacement fuel filters could fail to seal properly at the connection and leak fuel, which near an ignition source raises a fire risk. In the second, certain replacement oil filters could seal inadequately and let the engine lose its oil, again with a fire hazard attached. One owner complaint is also on the federal record, logged against the power train. The fuel and lubrication procedures here, with their specifications and torque values, and the driveline diagnostics, are the sections that bear on all three.
