1996 Chevrolet G30 Service and Repair Manual

Known issues on the 1996 G30. Six recalls sit on the federal record here, and three go straight to control of the van. A rear axle U-bolt can break, letting the spring lift off the axle under braking or cornering. A relay rod stud nut left under-torqued in the steering linkage first makes the steering feel slow to respond, then can fracture and take steering with it. Water reaching the kick panels can corrode a path between battery feed and ground, short, and start a fire. Seven complaints are recorded, five on the service brakes.
