This factory service and repair manual for the 1989 Chevrolet G30 covers four engines and six bodies without pretending they are interchangeable: the 4.3L V6 of 262 cubic inches, the 5.7L V8 of 350, the 7.4L V8 of 454 and the 6.2L diesel V8 of 379, each naturally aspirated and overhead-valve, fitted to passenger and cargo vans in two lengths and to two cutaway chassis. Known issues on the 1989 G30. Three recalls appear on this year's record. One is structural inside the cabin: the rear bench seat back can break away from its cushion in an accident, exposing whoever is belted to it. The other two are replacement filters, one on the fuel side, capable of leaking gasoline at a poor connection, and one on the oil side, capable of draining the engine, each carrying a fire risk. Two complaints exist, one on the steering and one on the seat belts. Seat mounting, steering linkage and belt anchorage torque values are given here.
