Known issues on the 1996 DeVille. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the fuel delivery system: nylon fuel rail tubing, and on some cars the underhood fuel return line, can degrade and crack, letting fuel leak into the engine compartment where an ignition source could turn that leak into a fire. The second covers the hood hinge and attachments: if the secondary latch was not properly engaged and the primary hood latch also failed to engage, the hood could open unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion, contacting the windshield, reducing the driver's vision and raising the risk of a crash. Owners have filed 253 complaints for the year, and the factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind both of those systems are in this manual.
