Known issues on the 1982 DeVille. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the gasoline fuel storage system: the fuel filters were produced with an incorrectly threaded fitting close enough in size that a filter could appear correctly seated on the fuel line, and the remedy is replacement with the correct filter. The second covers the gasoline fuel injection system, where the governor weight retainer inside the injection pump can fail under certain operating conditions, letting the throttle valve stick so the engine cannot return to idle or be shut down by the driver. Owners have filed 11 complaints for the year. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From tracing a fuel filter fitment issue to a full injection pump inspection, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 1982 DeVille.
